Every building tells a story. Every brick, beam, and pane of glass expose a character and signify the output of a thought process that should inspire us today and remain relevant for generations to come. This is rarely, if ever, the result of accident or coincidence, but of a directed vision that has been systematically programmed to succeed throughout the lifecycle of the building. Together with our sister company Urbanista, we call this process envisioningtm.
Put simply, envisioning is about editing the global body of information available and refining it down to the level of a core vision and storyline that clearly establishes the basis of the project. It is a very critical starting point for establishing a common base for analysis and discussion, planning further stages, understanding what needs to and can be achieved, and setting the stage for sustainable positive change. While the process and results of the envisioning process are different for each project based on its unique drivers and features, the aim is always to get to the core ideas and engage at a DNA level analysis of ensure that actions can be measured against the vision. We need to be able to separate the forest from the trees.
