Sela HotelLjubljana, Slovenia Autumn 2005The foremost challenge of the Sela project is to reinject new life in to a hitherto derelict baroque palace, which has come in to disrepair with a function that will not only work commercially in the market place but also respond to the unique characteristics of the existing building. The existing west wing of the palace is a single storey stable block, which requires rebuilding, as a three-storey block that will be acceptable to the municipality of Ljubljana. Sela is one of a number of baroque palaces in Slovenia. It is unusually close to the centre of Ljubljana, the capital city. It will be designed to occupy the hitherto untapped market of the boutique designer hotel in Ljubljana. In its quality it will stand next to those hotels in other capitals of Europe with a sophisticated atmosphere, a quality service and affordability.
